24.03.2015 FIERA RHO MILANO EXHIBITION CENTER

Fiera Rho Milano exhibition center is mentioned in almost every post of mine about main events of next month in Milan. And there is a reason for it – this complex is a business engine of Milan, this is the venue for the most important international exhibitions and congresses, for example, yearly in April the biggest world furniture exhibition is held –Salone Internazionale del Mobile, very popular with the Russians, so I think more detailed information about Fiera Rho will be useful.

FIERA RHO MILANO EXHIBITION CENTER

The complex was opened in 2005 as an extension of the existing Fiera Milano City exhibition center (please don’t confuse them! They are a few kilometers apart, and getting to them are two different routes). And ever since Fiera Rho Milano has been one of the biggest, most state-of-the-art and important exhibition centers in the world. This was designed by Massimiliano Fuksas, the architect recognized for his futuristic style (Armani Ginza Tower in Tokyo is also his work), the complex amazes you by its extraordinary design – all eight exhibition pavilions are connected with a sail roof made of glass and steel, which makes the whole exhibition cent look dynamic and very nearly cosmic (well in my unprofessional view).

The total area of Fiera Rho is 345,000 m2 and as I mentioned before there are eight exhibition pavilions located along the main street – Corso Italia (Italy Avenue). All buildings are numbered from 1 to 24; even numbers are on the right hand side of the Avenue, odd numbers – on the left. In this area there are also a lot of numerous cafes, bars and restaurants; so you will easily find a place for a business lunch with your business partners or a regular lunch.

What is a convenient place to stay in Milan for those visiting business exhibitions in Fiera Rho?

I have already written about Central Station area in Milan as one of the most convenient tourist areas inclouding visits to exhibition center Fiera Rho. There are lot of trains that  will take you from Central Station to Fiera Rho in about 10 minutes. Please see here for more details on Central Station and most convienent hotels.

How you can get there: I think the most convenient way is metro (red line М1, Fiera Rho metro station, fare is €2.5) as after leaving metro you will be in the main street of the exhibition center where you will easily find the place you need.

For getting from Malpensa airport to Fiera Rho exhibition center you can take a regular bus or suburban train that leave the airport every hour, and when big international exhibitions are held – Frecciarossa, Frecciabianca and Italo Treno express trains stop here.
