16.01.2015 MONEY SAVING IN MILAN

Unfortunately the economy issue gets more relevant both in Russia and Italy nowadays, so I decided to give you a few tips on saving money in Milan that are abundantly used by the Milanese themselves and could be useful for all city visitors.

Food. I have already written about places when you can have inexpensive lunches and suppers in Milan. The only addition is buying ready-to-eat food in supermarkets would be even cheaper. The most popular supermarket in Milan is Esselunga – the best quality-to-price ratio, wide range of ready-to-eat dishes already packed in handy plastic boxes.

You can find any delicacies and tasty food here: from sea food salads, traditional Italian sweets to salmon and tuna sushi and tartar (I personally adore them!).

This food is much more expensive in restaurants, and supermarket prices are quite reasonable. As to other popular supermarkets in Milan I can also recommend Conad, Coop and well known to the Russians Auchan. How can you find them? Type a supermarket title in Google Maps and it will show you the nearest ones. Or just ask in the street – as is done at all times.

Shopping. I should say shopping in Milan is cheaper versus Russia anyway. I have already written about Milanese outlet shops and discount seasons (I did well!wink), and now you will learn about very popular in Italy mercato – outdoors markets where you can buy you name it: fruits, Italian delicacies, cosmetics and surely clothes and footwear. For any taste and budget! You can find designer things of the previous collections at ve-e-e-e-ry enticing prices. The most popular markets are: mercato in piazza San Marco in the brownstone district Brera (the very center of Milan) is open on Mondays and Thursdays 8.00 thru 13.00.

Take a walk as this is exactly the place where you will see truly best-dressed Milanese ladies!
